Mike is in the Garden
Hello everyone. today we are going to talk about one of my favorite topics. Gardens
I have been a wide row gardener for years with Carrots, peas and Beans.
I will prepare my soil and then I will Rake about a rake heads length wide and about 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep.
I then broadcast my bean seeds in that row area and then cover with the soil I raked off.
With Beans and Peas this is a great way to double or even tripple your harvest.
It is also a great way to maximize space in your garden.
When the bean and Pea plants grow in, it discourages weed growth and keeps the ground moist.
The plants as they grow support one another and do better in this high wind area we live.
I like doing this with my carrots also. When they start to grow and need to be thinned I will thin them out and enjoy a small (my version of baby) carrots. Then the rest grow in good for a late summer early fall harvest.
Another method people have used is the grow box method. You can do a search on the internet and see
many different ideas of this method being used.
I do my potatoes in furrows single file and about 2 feet appart, 2 to 3 rows.
Something my father taught me about pototoes. let them grow about 4-6 inches and then hill them up. cover the plant from both sides until you can only see the tops of the plants.
Do this 3 or 4 times during the growing season for a good crop of spuds.

Female sexual buy tadalafil in australia dysfunction is the condition where the facial nerve loses function or gets damaged. Potatoes only grow from the starts upward.
The key to a quick start in your garden for those established transplants you have purchased is to give them a nice big drink of good ol H2O. I use to use Vitamin B root stimulator until I read some articles on the internet. Like this one here.

Looks like you can’t beat what God has blessed us with when planting our starts!
Remember that if you plant starts make sure you have a way to cover them until after the last freeze date for your area. Here in Highland, Utah that is usually between May 13th and 16th. Lots of people use wall-o-waters or cloth crowns, cut off milk jugs, etc. to keep their starts covered until after this time.
Now lets talk Weed control.
I can’t stand to use chemicals in my garden. So I use my lawn clippings around my plants and all over my garden. It keeps the soil moist and keeps the weeds from taking over my garden. I use to weed the garden a lot as a kid and always figured there had to be a better way. Well my kids are grown and there is definatly a better way. 2 to 3″ of grass clippings does the trick.
Last year was the first time I have ever used chemicals on my garden. I got so upset that the aphids killed my zucchini squash plants that I went crazy.
Those of you that know me know I love zucchini squash. So do my chickens. They also got my cucumbers an yellow squash plants. Most people only plant 1 zucchini and have enough. I usually plant 2 some times 3. They got them all. So I went on an aphid killing spree and sprayed them all dead as dead.
Most of the time I will plant marigold flowers all around my garden to keep the bugs at bay.
I Didn’t do that last year and I paid the price. I’ll be you can guess what I will be doing this year…your right buying that case or two of marigolds
There is nothing like a fresh vine ripe garden tomato. I really like getting my tomatoes in early from starts so I get an early crop. I will be planting my beans, and starts tomorrow in my garden.
Well enjoy your gardens. I can tell you I will !
